Here we have the first peated release from the Spey distillery, owned by Harvey’s of Edinburgh. Fumare, which is Latin for ‘Smoky’, was launched in 2016 in a batch of just 18,000 bottles. Aged in ex-bourbon barrels, this single malt is more Islay in character, with flavours of salt, medicinal smoke and charred wood. This is all balanced out with notes of herbs, caramel and orchard fruits. A really interesting release from Spey.
